Ntemo · Twelve Flames Tee No. 02
The first light of the day does not ask permission. It climbs. The Ntemo tee carries the flame of ascent: a slender fire leaning into its diagonal, rising over three bold chevrons like a slope taken step by step. This is the piece for the season you decide to move: the application sent, the training resumed, the first brick laid. An embroidery-style print medallion in vivid dawn orange and warm gold on a deep black tee, ringed in ivory beadwork, with the word NTEMO on the banner.
What it means
Ntemo is a Kikongo word for light. In the album Kimuntu (Bana Bilaka World Sound), Flame No. 02 names the state of ascent: the morning courage that starts before it is certain, the fire that climbs because staying low was never an option. The three chevrons under the flame are the slope; the tilt of the fire is the direction. Word note: common Kikongo usage; the twelve flames and their numbering are the creation of the album Kimuntu.
Part of Collection 04 · The Twelve Flames. Flame No. 02 · The Ascent. Twelve flames, named in Kikongo and Lingala: the states of being the album Kimuntu travels through.
